Our next big push forward is into the enterprise application realm with the recently announced collaboration between IBM and long-time partner, SAP, that will see IBM’s Watson technologies embedded into SAP solutions to provide new AI-driven insights and automation.

Today’s news is a prime example of how the rich, 50-year partnership between our companies continues to grow stronger and move the industry forward.”

In addition to natively embedding IBM Watson AI capabilities into SAP solutions, the two companies are collaborating on generative AI and large language models aimed at delivering consistent continuous learning and automation based on SAP’s mission-critical application suite.

With these visionary solutions, the only limitation will be your imagination, not your tech stack.

This news comes as IBM introduces watsonx, an upcoming enterprise-ready AI and data platform that is set to revolutionize the way we do business. Watsonx is designed to multiply the impact of AI across entire companies and increase efficiency exponentially. The platform is comprised of three powerful components: the watsonx.ai studio for new foundation models, generative AI and machine learning; the watsonx.data fit-for-purpose store for the flexibility of a data lake and the performance of a data warehouse; plus the watsonx.governance toolkit, to enable AI workflows that are built with responsibility, transparency and explainability.

This new suite of AI-powered tools was designed with enterprise use in mind. When it comes to auditing, compliance and accuracy, watsonx differs from other AI models in that its users can be sure that the model has only been fed with trusted and traceable data (false information and AI “hallucinations” have been a much-publicized weak point of other large language models). This makes watsonx particularly well-suited to business use cases. In addition, users will have the option to deploy it on their private on-site cloud, providing an additional layer of security. They can also take advantage of open-source models, IBM models or train their own model for a specific task. These are just some of the reasons watsonx is so advantageous from a business perspective. It will give companies a huge amount of flexibility in terms of deployment and conditions.

From checkers-playing computers in the 1950s to today’s cloud-native AI supercomputers, IBM has been a leader in the field of AI for decades.
